• Talk and Gallery Walk - Erie Art Museum
• Award at Butler Institute of American Art

Dear Subscriber:

Whether you are local or simply like an excuse to travel, you are invited to my talk on Part 1 of Intimate Landscapes at Erie Art Museum on Friday, July 31. Meet-and-greet is 5 pm, and the talk is at 5:30. I’ll discuss my gouache paintings from Europe and America, with my excuses for traveling by railroad boxcars, followed by a gallery walk.

Mastery of Medium award

IOn Sunday, at Butler Institute of American Art’s opening reception for the 89th National Midyear Exhibition, one of the country’s most respected juried exhibitions, my painting G.H. Old Growth Forest received the highest prize, their “Mastery of Medium” award.

I know that awards––or even which artists are accepted into a juried exhibition to begin with––can seem arbitrary, in which case I am grateful that the spun bottle pointed to my painting. I am always delighted when people see something compelling in my work, and I am humbled to receive this award. The exhibition is on view until August 30.f two front-page articles in two newspapers on the same day. The images below link to the articles in Erie Times-News and Times-Observer
